Brass Shims
Brass shims are thin spacers cut from brass, a copper–zinc alloy, used to fill gaps, align parts and set exact clearances in machinery and assemblies. Brass resists corrosion, is non-magnetic, is easy to cut and form, and conducts heat and electricity well, so brass shims are widely used in automotive, aerospace, electrical and general engineering. We stock brass shim stock from 0.010mm to 1.000mm thick and can laser cut brass shims to your drawing.
Because brass is softer than steel, it suits light to moderate loads and fine adjustment. For higher loads or temperatures, consider stainless steel shims or steel shims, and for electrical conductivity see our copper shims.
